day out in Tavistock

Couple of Photos taken today - hope they publish ok.........tried several times to no avail. I always seem to have problems with photos on this blog!

Out and about - Tavistock/Lopwell

I decided to head out to Tavistock today as it appeared that it was going to be a sunny day - that was short lived! As i drove out towards the Dartmoor the heavens opended and i was subjected to heavy hailstones. Not very nice to be driving in i may add! I popped in to Tesco on the way for a light lunch and to get out of the rain.

The sky was black and grey and blue and white all at the same time! Never the less i headed on to Tavistock. Parked the car and headed towards the indoor market. I love it in there. The shops in Tavistock are really different to the ones in Plymouth and i could spend hours looking at them.

I wandered around the streets for a while and then thought i had better head for home as it was getting late. I was driving back accross Dartmoor and came accross the signpost for Lopwell and spur of the minute decision turned off. It was years ago i visited Lopwell Dam and thought i'd pay it another visit. However i followed the signposts and still got lost! It could only happen to me. I have no sense of direction when im in a shop and none whatsoever when im driving! Anyway i ended up in a very pretty place which is near to Lopwell Dam. I discovered when i got home that i should have turned right at the T junction! Great i will know next time i go - maybe later in the week! All in all a mixed day weather wise but i enjoyed getting out and about.

SUNNY DAY IN PLYMOUTH

On my way home from work on Friday i strolled around Plymouth City Centre and came across a Farmers Market. The sun shining makes all the difference to the City Centre. I didn't have my camera with me so couldn't take as many photos as i would have liked so relied again on my mobile phone. They came out OK i think!

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Trawling through some old photos came across this one of my daughter and a friend of hers. She was working in New York and bumped into Bill Clinton in a Book Store close to where she was living; He kindly let them have their photo taken with him.

LOUISE @ 40

Here are 3 photos of my work colleagues celebrating the 40th Birthday of one of my ex work colleague Louise. It was great to catch up with them all again. Its a shame that we dont get together more than we do but I will try to get us all together sometime soon. It may even be at the family BBQ in July at Mount Edgcumbe. Its a bit hit and miss whether or not i can get photos to upload tonight - seems like i can but just in case this is a short lived cure im starting up another blog with wordpress.

2 MILE WALK HOME 2 DAYS RUNNING

I decided that it was about time i got back to walking home again from Work every evening. The time had come and my mind was made up so i packed my trainers in my bag on Monday morning and took them with me to work. However it was a short lived plan as the heavens opened just as i was about to leave - not a good idea walking in the wind and the rain. I decided to try again on Tuesday.

The trainers were eagerly packed in my bag again and lo and behold the weather improved 100%. A sunny sky and a slight breeze wouldnt put me off this time. So off i set after a long and tiring day at work. I thought i would take some photographs of the sites and scenes on my way which would be of interest to me in years to come and i look back at my photos. The 2 mile walk is a pleasant one. - quite a flat pavement with only a couple bridges to negotiate and one hill towards the end. I had my earphones in and hummed to a range of tunes stored on my mobile phone and ventured onward.

I set off at quite a good pace and managed to keep going until i hit Laira Bridge. Laira Bridge is my "wall" - the wall im referring to is the one the runners hit when they are running the Marathon! For some reason im fine up to the start of Laira Bridge but once i am accross the other side by The Morley Arms my interest falters and im wishing id never decided to walk again. I get my second breath and the wind has picked up so with a little bit of help from mother nature i carry on.

I eventually reach home and am greeted by "you did it then!" I certainly did and i will be doing it again. Ive decided that the money i save from not having to pay Western National £3 will go towards my Wedding Outfit - bit of an incentice i think.

Anyway enough of that - not only did i do the walk on Tuesday but i did it again on Wednesday which is my Salsa night - so now im just a little tired and need to recover. A short week this week and next as it is Easter Holiday.

I have posted some photos of my 2 mile walk - enjoy!

STROLL AROUND THE BARBICAN

I had a very pleasant stroll around The Barbican this afternoon after work. I am so lucky to
work close to The Barbican and be able to take in the warm sun on a Tuesday afternoon in April. We dont appreciate really what we have on our own doorstep sometimes. Just look at the clear blue sky. How i wish that Princess Yacht was mine and i was heading out to sea in it. I can dream cant I?
